Photos from a Tea Party

This is a repost from 2012 - wow. has it been that long.  I loved hosting a tea party and inviting people.  It's a great way to just celebrate life, enjoy desserts, children and share a little time together.  I big reason I was able to participate in just two parties is the expense. Doing everything right puts quite the pressure on my bank account and my friends and I always spend more than we intend to in the process of getting everything just right. It's also a tremendous output of energy.  I need to learn how to do these things without getting overwhelmed or stressed out.

However, it was a very lovely day, and I pray that the doors open to do it again.

The day turned out to be very warm and very beautiful, I got so busy playing "Martha" that I didn't take much time to chat or take photos, but here are a few that show how much fun a Ladies and Young Ladies Tea Party can be.

We just use a mish-mash of what's we own, what we can barrow, and what we dream about.

 My Daughter.

It is all about the treats.  Candies, cup cakes, tea sandwiches.

Strawberry chocolate chip meringues.

Families dressing up together and posing for photos.

Dressing up is half the fun.  For this party I scoured shops for old fashioned dresses and princess dresses so that every little girl who every dreamed of being really decked out at a tea party would get her chance.

Bringing treasures out of the closet.

At the end of the day we had about fifteen or twenty people come, eat treats, drink tea and lemon aid.  We practiced our manners, shared a story, and met new friends.  It's a party where the gift is each other.

I really hope I can do this again someday.
